Why Frida?

One of my best friends passed away from pancreatic cancer on May 2nd 2012. I remember everything that night. Every single feeling. Every single tear. Every single thought. I had the hardest time understanding why, why her? She was the sweetest girl you'd ever meet, you'd know her as the girl with the infectious smile. Even when she was in a comatose state; always smiling, no matter how much pain she was in. She got diagnosed during the fall of our freshman year, and not once in those 2 years did I ever hear her ask "why me?" She even once said she's glad she got it so someone else didn't. The most kind and gentle spirit. I miss you so much Frito. I'll see you again someday, I love you.

Never alone

"We are never alone. The teacher is always silent during a test."
There are so many times in our lives where we feel alone. No one there to hold your hand, dry your tears or give you words of encouragement. But we are truly never alone, God is always there and hears our prayers. Sometimes we may have to struggle, get hurt and betrayed. Without struggle how would we grow? The Lord only puts you through something He intends to help you though. He is always there no matter if He answers your prayers directly or not; He has a plan for you, He knows you're strong enough to overcome. In the toughest of days, it is essential to stay obedient and have faith. "Your loving Father in Heaven would never leave you alone in this mortality to wander in the dark. You need not be deceived  You can overcome the darkness of this world and discover divine truth."

Hello blogging world!

Hello blogging world! I am new to this so bear with me. (and my probable spelling mistakes)

I thought I'd start with the basics; about me! I am currently 18 years old and attending Sprague High School. Where you'll find the nation's best racquetball team, a majority white populous, and yours truly. I am pretty well known for volleyball, you could say it was my trade mark! Was is the key word. I have put volleyball aside and decided to focus on more important aspects of my life. I see volleyball as something that helped me grow, but there comes a point where you're going to have to retire, it's just up to you when that is! I am now preparing to serve a church mission, and I couldn't be more excited! I am so ready to get out there and share this truth and my love for this Gospel. I am turning in my mission papers in May and hope to leave by August, that's the plan!

My name is Gretchen Brock and I am a pinterest addict. I love to pin clothes that I could never afford and dream houses that I will never live in. But there has to be some advantages to it right? Like recipes, DIY crafts, and inspiring quotes! Although you might find these on a small scale on mine, this is how I reason with my addiction. I have no desire to surmount this addiction though, I just felt a need to express my obsession.

I have been blessed with an incredible family! Let's start with my darling mother, Patti. She is one of the kindest spirits I have had the pleasure of meeting, she always puts others before herself and is such a great example to me. My dad. Oh my father! Rich, he is truly one of my best friends. If you know anything about him you know he is a jokester, and although we may make fun of each other 24/7 we really do love each other! He is also a pro bowler, national monopoly champion and a novice volleyball player ;) Next comes by brother Garrett and his wife Micah, they got married in May and are living happily in Rexburg, Idaho. They are so happy together, I love it. I look up to them both so much and hope they move back to Oregon. (hint hint!) My sister Alli, some say we look like twins and some say we don't look anything alike. Although we don't have anything in common, we are perfect together. She's the computer/photographer/artsy girl and I'm more of the sporty/fashion girl. We compliment each other so nicely! To top off our family we have two precious dogs, JJ and Kiko! (yes they are both named after famous athletes) JJ is a stubbly little brown weiner dog, and Kiko is a 4 pound mini white Pomeranian. You could say we have our hands full.

Until next time, Au revoir!
